Sometimes we become so focused on the big things that we overlook the value of what is happening right in front of us.
I will be honest about my journey. I have been working hard every day to finish my book and get it out into the world. That has been the goal. That has been where much of my attention has gone.
Writing a weekly blog was not on my agenda.
I did not have a detailed plan for The Tuesday Table. Honestly, I still do not know exactly what this whole “blog life” is supposed to look like. I simply started writing and sharing what was on my heart.
It felt like a small thing.
But people began reading. They left comments, sent messages, and shared how something I wrote encouraged them. What began as something unplanned has created meaningful connections and given me another way to use my voice.
On Sunday, my godsister and I were talking about how something I consider small might be a life-changing experience for someone else.
That stayed with me.
Sometimes we minimize what we have to offer because it does not look big enough to us. We may think it is only a conversation, a kind word, a short message, or a lesson we learned along the way.
But we do not always know how much that moment may mean to the person receiving it.
It reminded me: Do not despise small beginnings.
We often want the finished book, the successful business, the perfect plan, or the visible results. But most meaningful things do not begin that way.
They begin with one idea.
One conversation.
One page.
One person who believes in what you are doing.
One small step taken before you fully understand where it may lead.
We should continue working toward the big things, but we cannot become so focused on the next major opportunity that we fail to appreciate the meaningful experiences happening along the way.
While you are looking for the GRAND opportunity, do not overlook the GREAT experience.
The quiet progress still matters.
The person you encouraged still matters.
The lesson you learned still matters.
The fact that you showed up and tried again still matters.
My book remains important to me, and I will continue working toward that goal. But I am also learning to appreciate what is growing through something I never planned.
Maybe what you consider small is not small at all.
Maybe it is simply the beginning.
Maybe it is already making a difference in someone else’s life.
Around the Table
What have you considered small that may be meaningful to someone else?
A Thought to Purpose Challenge
This week, pay attention to the meaningful moments you might normally overlook.
Share the encouraging word. Make the call. Write the page. Celebrate the progress. Appreciate the experience.
Do not become so focused on waiting for something grand that you miss something great.
Until next Tuesday…
Keep creating. Keep believing. Keep living with purpose.
